Into the Yukon

So I went north on the Alaskan Hwy. out of Whitehorse, Yukon, and turned right on the Klondike Hwy. After four hours I made it to a floatplane depot at Mayo. A floatplane, a Beaver, then soared me over the boreal forest to moose camp along the Stewart River. Wolves howled every night and grizzlies growled at my guide and me. We used a skiff to hunt in the back end of a slough and kept stepping in grizzly and wolf tracks. We called for days like a cow moose before this big bull moose grunted back and came to the call like a dozer driving through the forest. It then took us six hours to cut and bag all the meat by flashlight…. Yeah, an old-fashioned, manly adventure all right. Everyone should earn their own meat once in a while.
